You can watch the Weather Channel all day long and still not really know exactly when precipitation will hit your job site. Sometimes it may be spot on, but we always joke even if they say no rain there's ALWAYS a 20% chance. Nothing is more frustrating than loading trucks and driving to a job site for it to rain or snow moments after arrival. It wastes time and money. We knew we needed something more reliable than the typical daily weather report so we could more efficiently.

Rain Alarm is a free app (or $2.99 to remove ads) we use here at Frost Roofing to help our crews stay on top of incoming rain or snow. We've been using it for about a year now and it's a huge asset in warning us when precipitation is approaching, how far it is from our current location, how much is expected, and it's strength all via push notifications.

Also available is a animated map showing recent precipitation movement in your expanded area. This can be set at one, two, four, or eight hour time lapse options in the app's settings. This type of detailed information is helpful to see what is going on around you in real time. 

There are other apps similar, but we've found Rain Alarm to be very reliable. I highly recommend having your own company's crews give it a try. Don't get caught in the rain!
